A new tool for multi-purpose reservoir optimization is being developed by the SusHi-Wat team leads by Prof. Adebayo J. Adeloye at the Heriot-Watt University, UK.

The tool is written based on MATLAB language and built with user interface friendly, which is very easy to use for the beginners. There are many algorithms applied in the model such as the Sequent Peak  Algorithm (SPA), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Wavelet analysis, Artificial Neural Network (ANN), and behavior simulation. A multiple objective function includes of irrigation water demand, hydropower generation, flood control are all implemented inside the model. Evaporation loss from the storage-yield has been estimated based on the Piece wise Linear approximation using storage – elevation relationship. The model is tested at the Bhakra and Pong reservoirs in India.
